Every year, Guildford has a pretty big celebration for Bonfire Night. I went last year, and really loved it, so decided I would go again this year. If you're not from the UK and don't know, Bonfire Night (or Guy Fawkes Night, or Fireworks Night as it's also called) is a day that recognises the anniversary of an attempt to blow up parliament.

The celebration starts off with a torch light procession from town to the park where the fireworks occur. I have to say this is often quite a scary experience, as the torches are huge and when given to little children are waved around dangerously close to my hair!!




When you first get to the park, there are loads of fairground rides and stalls with prizes to win and food. I didn't go on any of the rides as it was all muddy and rainy, and I wanted to make sure I had a good position to see the fireworks when they started.






Then there is the lighting of the beacon by the mayor (which is fairly underwhelming if I'm honest, it was very hyped up and then not much actually happened!) and then of course the fireworks display.





It was a shame about the rain and the mud, but it's always such a nice display. If you're ever in Guildford on November 5th then definitely head to the fireworks display, it's one of my favourite days of the year.
